Default NSN to Huawei 2G Swap

    Hi Guys

I need your expertise, we are currently in process of swapping our Nokia 2G BTS from Nokia Ultrasites to Huawei BTS 3900 series. One problem arise, we have some nokia ultrasites that are configured with 12+12+12 TRX, on swap we are informed that Huawei MRFU only supports 6 TRX per RFU and beyond that config additional antenna or a quadport antenna is required. Do you know any other solutions?

As huawei have new BTS3900 with L can handle higher TRX capacity.

    Hi b0r3l_1,

as far as I know you can add more TRX (up to 12) using 2 MRFU boards per sector.

On standard BTS3900 cabinet you have 6 MRFU slots, so if you have three sectors in a site you should be able to install 6 MRFU to achieve your 12 TRX-per-sector desired configuration.

For instance, for S1 you will have one antenna feeder connected to the MRFU on slot 0 and the other antenna feeder connected to the MRFU on slot 1 (and so on for S2 and S3). If you want to configure RX diversity you'll need to connect the two MRFUs between them.

    Best regards

    I agree with ksillas

We use the same idea but using GRFU boards
with configuration 12+12+12 TRX in BTS3900

using single antenna for one sector
(one feeder from first GRFU in slot 0 and second feeder connect to second GRFU in slot 1)

    thanks

Ok guys, let me clarify something. Huawei GRFU/MRFU are capable of up to 6 TRX. But in our network we would like to have it 4 TRX per RFU, this is to maintain 20W per TRX since the RFU is only 80W. So for one sector with more than 8 TRX we will use 3 RFU unit.

yup, i agree with bor3l_l. since MRFU can support up to 6 TRX, it's only TX Power matter. how strong TRX TX Power you want to maintain.
