Default Cell reselection parameters from GSM to UMTS

    Hi all,

New in 3G field , I have some shadowing zones regarding the Cell reselction GSM to UMTS, have someone by any chance a document detailing the condition, parameters and process relating to it.
meantime need to know the meaning of Qsearch_I and default value?

    Thanks in advance

Qsearch_I defines at which 2G signal strength level the MS will start measuring 3G neighbours cells. The default value is 7 which means always (i.e. the MS will measure 3G neighbour cells irrespective of the 2G signal strength).

    Lightbulb

When the mobile camped on a GSM cell, it will execute the UTRAN cells measurements if the received signal level of the GSM serving cell is below or above a given threshold, determined by parameter Qsearch_I, as follow:

Qsearch_I Threshold to measure UTRAN cells
    0 < -98 dBm
    1 < -94 dBm
    2 < -90 dBm
    3 < -86 dBm
    4 < -82 dBm
    5 < -78 dBm
    6 < -74 dBm
    7 Alway
    8 > -78 dBm
    9 > -74 dBm
    10 > -70 dBm
    11 > -66 dBm
    12 > -62 dBm
    13 > -58 dBm
    14 > -54 dBm
    15 Never

Instead of C1 and C2 criterion , UMTS have S and R criterion S for selection and R for Reselection
    S:
cell selection in the protocol 25.304, as follows:
    Srxlev>0 & Squal>0
    Where, Squal=Qqualmeas-Qqualmin; EC/NO
    Srxlev=Qrxlevmeas-Qrxlevmin-Pcompensation.RSCP of the CPICH
    R , S must be satisfied
the servig and the neighbour cell are ranked according a specific Q hysterisis and Q Offset

    Cheers

Yes, it is a 3GPP parameter, so if your vendor supports IRAT re-selection (all do) they will support this parameter.

Default Re: Cell reselection parameters from GSM to UMTS

Hi all, a have i strange problem:
the 2G (********) to 3G (Huawei) reselection can't be achieved except when i use Huawei mobile "120E" and this case done on one cell, and one the another cells the 2G3G reselection is done very fast and smoothly
i have checked if there is any differences in 3G & 2G Parameters for the tested cells, but they are matched

    Thanks in advance
