Nemo Outdoor: mobile phones and wireless adapters

It is well known that Nemo Outdoor requires some specialized equipment (specifically, special chipsets) to perform testing and measurements.
Thus, we cannot use ordinary mobile phones and wireless adapters available worldwide.

Thus, could you share your experience about such transformation and to recommend the most suitable mobile phones/wireless adapters (company, model, etc.)?
