How to detect sleepy cell (2G)
We have possible sleepy cell situation -> tranismitter stop transmitting without any alarm/notification. 2G technology.
We can monitor counters associated with radio traffic and set trigger for no events for certain period of time.
Question is how to detect idle mobiles with counters - are idle mobiles they generating any signalling traffic? Beside periodic location update ...
Thanks

Hello,
Try to set control traffic volume threshold. Check any regular cell and you will see control traffic volume in an hour. use that as a threshold and number of connected devices per hour.

Re: How to detect sleepy cell (2G)
hi,
Try to use Utilization KPIs and attempts and failures, many times they have zero SDDCH traffic, but with minimal TCH traffic due to Handover but not being camped when accessing it or Call Setup usually is Zero.

Re: How to detect sleepy cell (2G)
Hi, you may try check SDCCH Drop KPI. Usually, you may found high counts of drops due to other reasons.
You can also compare the TCH and SDCCH Traffic trend.
Possible reason is that the BCCH TRX is faulty, if you have a cell with more than one transceiver, I suggest you block the first Transceiver so the BCCH channel will move to the second Transceiver then monitor the KPIs I mentioned. Hope this helps.
