Default Upgrading a very old MTH800

    Hi guys

I am compleatly new to Tetra firmware/software upgrades. I came across and old MTH800 that I need to upgrade to a newer firmware so I can use the same codeplug and CPS on all radios.

MTH800 runs R07.000.5343. I use an old CPS version 6C.417.01 to program that radio (only works on WinXP).
I would like to upgrade the radio to MR 5.14.3 (R07.000.8195). I use CPS 7.3 for the newer radios.

Please help me with the procedure of that upgrade, step by step.

    Thanks a lot!!
    Kris

    ******** MTH-800 UPGRADE
FROM LEGACY TO CPS PLUS (POST FW6511) VERSION
    LEGACY VERSION UPGRADE:
Setup the Legacy CPS LAB MR5.8 to your computer.
You need Windows XP 32bit OS and USB-connector.
    Setup the USB driver.

There are 10-all Legacy FW-packs for MTH800 from FW 5343 to FW 6911.
Copy the 10 z19 pack to the:
    MR5.8LAB CPS main folder
    MR5.8LAB CPS Pack folder
    MR5.8LAB CPS SW folder

    FOR USER LEVEL LAB:
    User: Lab
    Password: Lab or lab

Now you can run the Legacy CPS.
Plug in the USB programming cable (SKN6311B). Set the connection type to USB in the CPS (after successful previous USB driver setup).
Plug the programmer to the radio.
1+9+Power - now you are in programming mode.
Read device and save the orginal codeplug!
Upgrade therminal to the highest version! (6911, 6517 or 6511).
If done, read terminal, save codeplug.
You can try upgrade again, if you reached the highest version, there is no upgarde avaible.
Now done, you have migration version FW/SW on your radio!

CPS PLUS DEPOT PROGRAMMING AND UPDATE

For the CPS PLUS is Windows 7 or later recommended.
    Setup the CPS PLUS DEPOT

After CPS PLUS setup setup Depot files too.
Setup USB driver –if asking, for old FW – RPK version!

    Start CPS PLUS
    Import the RPK files.
Now you can read your terminal with the CPS PLUS DEPOT.
Read your FW6XXX codeplug and save it.
Uprade your terminal – choose the 8495 version.
    If done:
Read the device and save the codeplug – if you have trouble to do that, upgarde the USB driver (setup was for old FW, now you have new version).
    DONE
Now the radio is 8495 version.

    LAB:
Read the 8495 version radio with the Depot CPS PLUS, save the codeplug.
    EXTEND DMO RANGE
    Go to DMO groups folder.
Go to one chanel freqency, if you click there with the mouse and moving your cursor, you can see the range (380-430).
    Click L, Click D
Now you are in Lab Decimal mode
Go to CP_NET_BLOCK folder, open it
go to DMO RANGE folder, open it
Min is now 380 max is 430, replace it with 350 and 450
Click L to write and enable it.
Now the enterable DMO range is 350-450MHz

Write radio and read radio again.

    ENABLE SALES FEATURES
Go to radio features, many of them is grey – you vant enter it, you must pay for it (GPS, WAP etc.)
    Go to grey one
    Click L, Click D
Now you are in Lab Decimal mode
Go to CP_SALES_FEATURE_T folder, open it
Go to SALE_FEATURE_DATA folder and open it
Where 0 is, the feature is not enabled, wherw 1, then is enabled.
Simple replace the 0 with 1!
Click L to write and enable it.
Now the features are no more grey, you can simple enable it without LAB or Depot mode.

    Done.
    Have fun.
    Gábor from Hungary

I think the new CPS Plus is avaible here, the RPK packs too.
But is hard to find the MR5.8 LAB CPS and the Z19 files.

    MR5.8 LAB CPS, 88.2 MB
    Download link:
    https://mega.nz/file/1BsTDRIC#Da_eGb...uSN8jwgC7tqN-g

MR5.8 LAB Z19 FW packs for MTH-800 upgrade, 84.2 MB
    Download link:
    https://mega.nz/file/AI1h1TTB#WsvS1X...AgNIeTDZlMo49Q

The upgrade process for the MTP-8XX, MTM-800 and MTM-800E terminals are the same, only the Z19 files are different.

    Hi,
That's not totally exact, the MTM800e uses different control head than usual MTM800 and it hosts its own FW which should be updated too.

That's right. The ******** MTM800 and MTM800E are different radios.

I would like to mention that the ******** MTM-800E is the worst possible ******** Tetra device.
There are a very large number of them with factory defects by the ambulance service.
    The error:
when programming, the radio switches on and off automatically.
If this happens when you upgrade, the radio can go to the trash. It's happened a lot, unfortunately.
The only positive thing is the simple programming cable, in which there is no component at all. There are only two plugs between the two ends and the simple wire between them.

    The z19 files:
    For the MTH-800: R07...
    MTM-800: R08...
    MTP-850: R10...
    MTP-850S: R13...
    MTM-800E Control Head: R14...
    MTM-800E Transceiver: R17...
    MTP-850Ex: (non EU)R26...
    CEP-400: (non EU) R28... and (EU) R29...

It is also not correct, the 'brick' is identical, only different FW and Control Head.

Do you have more details on this alleged problem ? which models are affected ? or a specific FW release ?
I have no pretention but programmed a lot of them without any problem ! it's very curious....

    Dear Shuttleman,

    you are right.
That is why i'm wrote: The ******** MTM800 and MTM800E are different radios.
The MTM-800E programming cable is simple. Only the cable and two plugs, nothing more.
For the MTM-800 you need MAX-232 IC and voltage regulator, which has a 3V3 output.
