Expand LTE coverage by RS Boosting.
Dear all.
I want to expand LTE coverage for my network. So, I increase the power of RS signal 3db addition. (dlRsBoost = 3dB - Nokia)
But after increase, RSRP is better (driving test/mentor) but the quality of service decrease alot: DLThput (driving tesst) decrease; CQI, e-RRC SR, decrease too.
Can Anyone with experience about this share me advise?
Thanks!

Re: Expand LTE coverage by RS Boosting.
that's a trade-off. So, consider carefully before changing.

Re: Expand LTE coverage by RS Boosting.
When you boost the RS, you are taking power from PDSCH (data). Of course your overall speed and CQI will decrease. You also create more inter-site (RS) interference, if you have any overlap areas and any mistake in your PCI plan. Your uplink coverage will also not get any better, in fact the imbalance which exsists anyway will be worse after the RS boost.
The only way to really increase the coverage is via either extra power (I mean real power, through license if there is extra power left in your RRUs, or higher power RRUs), or tighter beam (=higher gain) antennas. Some RRUs also have higher LNA gain as well as transmit power.

I think I must rollback this task.

Hi
any possibility of increasing Pmax or max power.

Pmax is 40W per antenna port. It's limitted of hardware.

only do this on cases where your sinr/throughput is bad due to coverage. dont generalize.
in Urban cluster you can reduce it to negative value and get enhancement in throughput.

I think that is a good ideal. I'll try

You can encrease RS power in some cases like lack of coverage, low traffic utilization, then it could get some gain.
If you have overlap or heavy traffic load, reduces RS power, increase power for other channel could be trial.
