Default New Atoll In-Building Module for Indoor RAN Planning

Forsk announces its new Atoll In-Building module, the most recent addition to its Atoll RAN planning and optimization product offering. The new Atoll In-Building module allows in-building network design within the Atoll framework, providing operators with unique indoor/outdoor network planning capabilities.

"We are proud to add in-building planning capabilities to Atoll", says Benoit Guy, Forsk's CEO, "this is a breakthrough in the RAN planning and optimization space where outdoor and indoor planning tools had long been completely separated. Our strong R&D efforts have allowed us, with Atoll, to provide a single RAN planning and optimization platform that can deal with country-wide network plans while supporting the centimetric precision that is required for in-building planning activities. Atoll is pushing the RAN planning and optimization software market to the next level, where outdoor and indoor planning can be performed within the same tool. This will allow operators to design and deploy 5G wireless networks more effectively and help them streamline the overall network design process".

    Atoll In-Building features:
    • Detailed modeling of buildings, floors, and structural components: walls, horizontal and inclined surfaces, openings, pillars, etc.
    • In-building multi-wall ray-tracing propagation model
    • Import of floor plans in industry standard formats
    • Multi-RAT indoor coverage predictions
    • Indoor active, passive, and hybrid DAS equipment modeling: sources, antennas, cables, amplifiers, master/expansion/remote units, etc.
    • Comprehensive reports and bills of materials

    Hi!
Is the Atoll In-Building Module a new add-on as part of the new version of Atoll 3.4?

I understand that there are many WIFI usage in malls and markets, but they do installation based on some generic process, like place one WIFI spot here and other one there , they do walk test and that sit, they know the coverage range for one hot sport and they calculate how many WIFI base they need for each floor.. etc . It does not require additional investment on tool license and the mall 3D indoor map . Then finally using different frequencies for each sport .. BR / Optim

I don't agree with you. WLAN design requires careful planning. And there are special products for RF planning and site survey. For example, https://www.ibwave.com/ibwave-wi-fi-suite
