Default Which SNDCP/PDCP header/payload compression is used in practise?

    Hi all,

we'd like to extend the Open Source OsmoSGSN with header compression support (see https://osmocom.org/issues/1580).

I know that as per spec, there are three different header compression schemes specified for SNDCP (RFC1144, RFC2505 and ROHC). However, I have currently no good idea about what is used in practise. Does anyone have information on this, like:

    * which SGSN have support for which header compression protocol?
    * which operators deploy header compression in practise? And which one?
    * what is the status of MS/UE support for which of the header compression schemes?

In terms of payload compression, there's V.42bis and V.44. The same questions as above apply.

Any information is much appreciated. Thanks!
