Time period of a Time slot
Hi Freinds,
please explain how you are able to calculate the time of one "time slot".
I now it is 0.577micro seconds , in every doc it is given as 15/26 etc.no explanation given in docs.
on what basis it is calculated.

Time Period
Hello Plannerguy,
Time period is calculated on the basis of normal burst
Normal burst is 156.25 bits = data in one time slot
1 bit duration = 3.69 micro seconds
Time period of one time slot = 156.25 bits x 3.69 micro seconds/bit = 0.577 milli seconds (577 micro seconds)
Hope this helps.

15/26 is the same number expressed as a fraction.
If you perform the division on a calculator you will get 0.577 (at 3 decimal places)

this the clock signal division inside the mobile station we have
bit duration = 48/13000000 = 3.69 e-9 -> each 48 bits of the internal clock which frequency is 13 khz the mobile station will generate a bit in the TDMA frame this clock signal is generated by a quartz and you multiply by 156.25 you ll find your result :
48*156.25 = 7500
7500/13000000 = 75/130000 = 15 * 5 / 130000 = 15 / (0.2 * 13000 ) = 15 / 2600 = 576

Very true. Missed out on this. Checked on scientific calculator.
Thanks.

hi
GSM channel = 8TS =4.615 ms frame duration
Hence 1 TS = 577 µ-s = 156.25 bits
