Redudancy in Packet Switching is available as the packet can take different paths to reach the destination, its connection-less technique. So, as if one path from source to destination fails, it can take an alternate path, thus providing redudancy.

Regarding Capacity, as PS technique is not a dedicated type of technology, it uses the system resources in an optimized way. The principal goals of packet switching are to optimize utilization of available link capacity and to increase the robustness of communication

    Default Packet switching

Some days ago I found article. it may be usefull.
We begin early test of Abis over IP (E///)
There are Abis over IP and Abis Optimization. First - ethernet based, 2nd - E1 based. On these features we would realize, for example, Abis Local Connectivity feature. (speech conection between RBS, without BSC,MSC, but using new hardware on RBS - SIU)

As a part of core / RF network

the packet switching takes places with ALOHA based algorithm technique

this will make the packets available to a MAC Layer channel more frequently

    Thanks
