Default Push more traffic to 3G from 2G

    Hi Experts,

Kindly suggest a trail or parameter to push traffic away from 2g towards 3G in (Huawei world). Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks

    Hi,

This is a general mistake engineers do regarding traffic shifting. The reason is the following:

    1. As a rule of thumb 3G idle mode setting is some how in a way that all 3G users will be absorbed and kept in 3G network normally so in this case please make sure you are not pushing users in idle mode with very aggressive sRatSearch setting and accordingly with FDDQMIN setting from GSM side(FDDQMIN : is minimum EcNo level to re-select 3G cell in idle mode)

    2. You need to make sure your 2D event is not aggressive to push traffic so early in GSM while sending UE to compressed mode with even acceptable RSCP and EcNo.

3.You need to make sure no inter RAT load balancing is activated with aggressive settings for example DRD( Directed Retry ), Service based HO, Load Based HO features, etc to shift traffic from 3G to GSM so early.

4.As a last option you may activate GSM to 3G HO which i am not recommending it .

If you are interested to grab more traffic in 3G so any parameter changes in above explained steps from 1 up to 3 you may play with parameters but it comes with performance degradation mostly because it is trad off between capacity coverage and quality .

    Hope it helps you .

    Cheers
