Before using state-of-the-art devices such as Sony Xperia Z2 or Samsung S5 models for mobile network data service testing, be sure to turn off Wi-Fi on the device. If Wi-Fi is enabled, the device may run data transfers over Wi-Fi rather than over the mobile network it is camping on (even if a correct APN has been entered).
2.2.Rohde & Schwarz TSMW Firmware Upgrade
All customers using Rohde & Schwarz TSMW scanners must upgrade to firmware version 2.0.1 to be able to connect the scanners in TEMS Investigation 16.3 and later.
Please refer to www.rohde-schwarz.com/en/firmware/tsmw for R&S firmware download and release notes describing how to upgrade the firmware.
2.3.VoLTE vs. Data Service Testing with Qualcomm Based Samsung Devices
Qualcomm chipset based Samsung devices with VoLTE capability need to be set up differently depending on what services are to be tested: VoLTE, data, or both. Here are some guidelines:
•If you are going to test VoLTE only, the device should be either in USB mode DM+MODEM+ADB, or in USB mode MTP+ADB and tethered. Please remember to start the OnDevice IP Sniffing service from TEMS Investigation.
•If you are going to test data services only, and you need to keep down the size of the logfiles, either disable the DPL log (0x11EB) or set USB mode to RNDIS+DM+MODEM. Be aware that in RNDIS+DM+MODEM mode it is not possible to apply certain control functions such as RAT and band lock. In TEMS Investigation 16.3.1 the DPL log is by default turned off in RNDIS+DM+MODEM mode.
•If you want to test both VoLTE and data services concurrently, the device must be in USB mode MTP+ADB and tethered if the data testing is to be done over the Ethernet interface. DM+MODEM+ADB will only provide a Dial-Up connection (RAS).
3.TEMS Investigation 16.3.3
3.1.Enhancements
•License Control Center update checker states explicitly if the latest version is already installed (instead of just staying silent).
3.2.Corrected Bugs
•Second carrier information in HSPA dual cell scenario sometimes not presented from Sony Xperia LT25i.
•Logfile export failed in TEMS Investigation 16.3: export output files were corrupt.
•GPX file caused RouteUtility to crash. – The reason was that the Split by Region function in RouteUtility did not support GPX files containing a track (as opposed to a route). This has been fixed.
•If several cells in CDMA active set had both channel and PN identical, cell names were not presented for these cells.
•LTE signal scan with PCTel scanner on TDD bands did not appear in presentation windows.
•Second call not answered when executing voice call script on Sony Xperia Z3 phones. – Hardcoded 500 ms preguard added before answer call activity for Qualcomm chipset based devices.
•Bahrain not covered by TEMS Investigation MEA Edition.
•TEMS Investigation 16.3.2 crashed when loading TEMS Pocket logfile. – Bug fixed in handling of WCDMA CPICH scan data.
•LTE PDCP UL/DL Throughput and RLC UL/DL Throughput information elements not selectable in Report Generator setup.
•UARFCN lock function did not work on Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900I: the phone went into no service mode without rebooting.
•Map plotting of route markers at an offset from the route did not work in TEMS Investigation 16.3.2.
•ODM POLQA calls using Samsung Galaxy S5 phones timed out after 220 seconds.
•LTE scanning with PCTel MX: Scanned Channel RSSI was not populated if no cells detected.
•Events duplicated (or repeated even further) in MDM-format logfile export.
