    Default LTE Cell Radious

    Hello;
    Could someone explain exactly what should be looked at when picking the cell radious?
    Is this the maxuim radious of the expected coverage?
    Is it the distance to the next LTE site?
    Do most people set this to 10,000? and leave it?
    Thank you in advance
    Jason
    Thanks

    Hi Jason;

    Normally cell radius is set to 15 KM, if you have extended cells features than it goes up to 100 KM.
    you can measure it using Timing Advance.

    Hi Eternalfury,

    In E// i dont know, however, in HW we change the traditional 10 Km cell radius to 25 Km in some scenarios with overshooting ( only in the target cells) and sometimes the % HO SR improves.

    i hope this information be helpful

    Brs.

    Hi Jason

    In agreed with topoffenders, the scenarios dense urban and urban are set in the cell radius value typical 10.000 m, but it depends of your KPIs of Accesibility RRC-RAB and Retainability CALL DROP SESSION/VOICE, this value could change to 8.000 or 5.000, but it isn´t recomended, only in case yOu want to improve these KPIs and decreasing the far access. But in the case of suburban o rural clutters, this cell radius is set on 29.000 m but it is recommended only in high frecuencies band for example LTE 700MHz , 850 MHz. The far access in number vs distance can be viewed in Timing Advance counter.

    Best Regards
