NOKIA SOLUTIONS AND NETWORKS WON CONTRACT TO UPGRADE VODACOM TANZANIA'S 3G

Vodacom Tanzania will upgrade its GSM and 3G HSPA networks across the country using Nokia Solutions and Network’s (NSN) advanced radio network infrastructure and comprehensive services.
The deal will see NSN roll out its Flexi Multiradio base station – which is capable of supporting multiple access technologies including LTE – across the country. The vendor is also providing monitoring solutions and managed services to Vodacom.
According to Vodacom, the move will enable the company to improve its network capacity and coverage, hence maintain its competitive edge.
"Our technology and services expertise address Vodacom Tanzania's twin objectives – ensuring the highest network quality possible and doing so at a lower cost. In addition, it reduces capital and operating costs for Vodacom Tanzania as the base station is extremely compact, requiring minimal floor space, and consumes 70 percent less energy than before," said Pete Beadle, head of NSN's Vodacom Tanzania customer team, in a statement.
