    Default The best drive test tool in the market

    Drive Testing is a method of measuring and assessing the coverage, capacity and Quality of Service (QoS) of a mobile radio network.
    the measurement is done by mean the equipment and collection software, we can find many of them in the market as i listed some of them bellow (if you missed one you can list it) :

    * Tems investigation
    * Nemo outdoor
    * Genex Probe
    * JDSU - RANAdvisor Wireless Network Optimization
    * DingLi Communications solution provider in drive testing equipment
    * Keynote SIGOS, a supplier of drive testing equipment
    * SwissQual, a supplier of drive testing equipment
    * Anite, a supplier of drive testing equipment

    the main question is what are the equipment and collection software recommended?
    But anyway, whatever the equipment, software and procedures used, the end result is always the same: reports and output files.

    if we need to choose one of them we should verify if it is compatible with our network, what are the differential costs and benefits, not least, support!

    in conclusion i need you to share your experience about the recommended equipment and collection software (price, benefits, features, support...)

    Hello wireless_houss,

    Just to clarify that Nemo Outdoor is Anite's product.

    I have observations only on TEMS and Nemo, so I can speak only for them. Below are several general points that you should consider:

    1. Type of system you want to make (GSM, UMTS, LTE, etc.)
    - Most likely you will use a scanner. TEMS and Anite have their own scanners which are cheaper than PC Tel or Rhode Schwartz for example.
    2. Type of services you want to check (Voice, PS, Voice Quality, VoLTE)
    - for Voice Quality you need server (proprietary of the DT tool vendor)
    - number of simultaneous PS connections.
    - number of simultaneous Voice Quality tests
    3. Number of simultaneous devices you want to use.
    - Most DT tools support up to 6 devices (phones, data modems) and a scanner. For benchmark tests of multiple operators, Ascom (TEMS) and Anite (Nemo) offer other solutions that allow you to connect 10+ devices.
    4. Prices - negotiable to a point
    5. Support - I guess the most important is the license renewal option (update to a newer version). Guarantee of the hardware is part of Anite's support for example.

    I hope I helped a bit

    We use Nemo on our HSPA project , but I also use TEMS to compare the DT Log ,I find TEMS provide more parameter on the post processing(use Actix, Next year we will run another LTE project ,will change to use TEMS .

    For me I think TEMS is more mature in DT logging field.But recently they seems to release their versions filled with lots of Bugs!

    here are some disadvantages of Nemo Outdoor :

    1. For recording logfile of predefiend size, number of logfiles are defined prior to recording
    2. seperate logfile is generated for each terminal attached
    3. seperate licence (dongle) required for offline playback of logfiles
    4. event explanation not clear
    5. Nemo outdoor crashes when exporting logfiles to mapinfo format

    Hello wireless_houss,

    Some observation regarding some of your comments about Nemo:
    2. I don't know why you consider this as a problem. In this way, if you perform test for multiple operators, you can give only specific files to each operator. I believe that in newest TEMS version you can do the same or even choose how to group your devices in separate log files (just say it in the release notes)
    3. Doesn't TEMS require dongle for replaying files ? I thought that only the oldest versions can do that.
    5. It didn't happen to be when I've tried.

    1- yeah if you want to do benchmarking its more convinient to get seperate logfiles but if want test your network it's more sophesticated to get your logfiles in merged file
    2- no (i work with Tems inv9.1.4)
    3- i didn't experienced that but some of my friends had the experience

    1. - I agree with you. Benefit from separate files is that you can load only one device and analyze. In long DT (e.g. detailed DT of a big city) this could help if you post process with Actix (this is true until 64bit Actix version will be released and then limitations will be nly to hardware)
    2. - You work with the last version of TEMS that gives this opportunity. Unfortunately, such old version can be useful ony for Voice and/or GPRS testing because it doen't support attributes for DC HSPA for example.
    3. - Maybe it is a bug with specific attribute/device/Nemo version.

    I recommend you to read the release notes and briefly look at the help files of the latest version of all DT software you are interested to see what features they offer.

    In this thread I've shared some official help materials for Nemo Outdoor, together with the installer: http://www.finetopix.com/showthread....t=nemo+outdoor

    I haven't checked if the documentation was uploaded with the newer installers shared from other users.

    If you have some specific questions for Nemo, I can try to help you.
    As for TEMS, I think that the last version is 15.1.2.
