Are you talking about VAMOS? TSC: Training Sequence Code – a code embedded in the signal. VAMOS reception mechanism, in both downlink and uplink, mainly makes use of the training sequence pattern to differentiate between the two overlapped signals.

The training sequence is used by the equalizer to create a channel model. TSC can be set for any channel group except channel group 0, which always will get the same value as the BCC part of the BSIC. Then if you have the same TSC specially if you have co-channel then it could make difficult for the equalizer to distinguish between these co-channels. The channel model depends on antenna type, tilting, azimuth, power, why?, because you have different types of clutters in your system like, urban, suburban, village, free space, etc., then you will have high buildings, low buildings, trees, lakes, etc., and that are a great component of channel model togheter with some of the settings and hardware of the cell like was mentioned before, that it's the reason to put different TSC specially for co-channel cells. For VAMOS is harder because you need two TSC. Best regards,

Training sequence is a 26 bit pattern often transmited in Normal Burst of TCH channel for radio link quality estimation and equalization.
The main functions of the tranning sequence code are.
    - Used to determine signal distortion and bit error rate.
    - Used for timing Advance(TA) alculation.
    - Used as a channel Identifier.
    - Used for equalisation purpose.
The TSC is equipped on a TDMA time slot basis The Training sequence code of timeslot " 0" of the BCCH carrier should be equal to the BCC of the cell.
    Value Range; 0-7
