Default International Voice & Roaming Voice Traffic Decreased After 3G Launch

    Hi friends,

We have observed that after launching 3G, International Voice traffic & Roaming voice traffic revenue has decreased.
We fear that the these subscribers are now using P2P services for voice (Like skype, Nimbuzz, etc).
To confirm this we need to see the P2P services traffic; just like we can see traffic for each website on whole network level from PCRF/CGW.

Do you have any other idea why International Voice traffic decreased? And is there any way to check P2P services traffic increase?

Looking forward for the expert answers.

Hi! You may first check if these roamers partners have roamer agreement to use your 3G network. They may have not in order not to allow huge bills due to 3G ps data.
The other idea is that it may be even more expensive to make voice calls over ps in roaming, so skype is not so evident.
The third is even if you make deep packet inspection and find skype traffic it would be hard to figure out if this skype comes from roamers or from your native customers.
So i would first recommend to make traces in airports serving cells and check if your main roamers get access to your 3G network. Then you may check what they do (cs or ps calls) after registration. If your RAN is //E i may help you with GPEH parsing.

Is the subscriber count is reduced or the traffic is reduced ?

Subscribers count has increased (2G+3G subcribers have increased); Previously roaming revenue was higher but now it has reduced so we suspect these high end customers are now using Skype/VoIP that's why Roaming CS traffic has reduced.

Applications like Skype/Viber are the main culprits. Blocking these services might help.
