High number of discarded paging message
We are using ZTE system and I noticed high number of discarded paging message(CS and PS), namely counters C901640001 and C901640002. At Busy hour it even spiked more than 50,000,000 in one cell. What is the acceptable values of these counters? I coudnt find it in any of zte documents. Can I refer these counters to conclude paging congestion and subsequent need to add PCH?
thanks

Re: High number of discarded paging message
Hello,
Check your LAC Spilitting first. cHECK lu success rate from core and also PPS. Check where LAC is cutting, any high mobility area.
What you can do like in E//
CCH Load Thresh value optimize
Paging repeats
reserve agch blk to 1 max
in last you can add one additional slot for paging.

Your ZTE network is CDMA or GSM

Re: High number of discarded paging message
check your discarded paging rate,(discarded paging/paging attemp)*100%
if more than 1 %
then it's bad,
1.check wheter it's in border LAC,optimizie border lac if needed(last option, but check in first time).
2.check any newsite cell surrounding cell with bad discarded paging,
3.check alarm log file , is there found any alarm correlated to performance like E1/T1
4.check traffic surrounding is that cell to much grab traffic-->try to reduce and sharing to other cell, downtilt, reduce CRO,moving traffic etc
hopefully can help your problem

Re: High number of discarded paging message
check pps of the LAC.. if ok then check for low coverage areas in LAC... if ok then chek for parameter max TA

Re: High number of discarded paging message
just extract counters at cell level, lookup the LAC, then sum up on LAC level
if u have to do it more often, u can make a simple macro in excel or access..
for paging discards, check if they were discarded on a particular cell or site or ALL cells in the LAC...
if a particular cell/site, then check transmission fluctuation, LAPD congestion ..
if all cells, then first check paging commands per second from core, because paging counter from core are more reliable, also check the PSR from core, does it co-relate with ur failures at rf side...?

Re: High number of discarded paging message
In Huawei: A337:Number of Deletions of the Paging for CS Services on the PCH
A339:Number of Deletions of the Paging for PS Services on the PCH
L3188L:Paging Messages Discarded from the PCH Queue
A530:SM Pagings Discarded on LAPD Link
A531:CS Pagings Discarded on LAPD Link
A532:PS Pagings Discarded on LAPD Link
You can add EBCH

You cab try:
PAGING PROBLEM SCENARIO
1. LAC SPLIT.
2. MFRMS
3. PS/CS RACHMIN (PER BSC/PER LAC) : PS RACHMIN /CS RACHMIN: TO ELIMINATE TDROP SET TO -104
4. EBCH
5. T3212
6. CRH
7. RXMIN
8. ATT (IMSI ATTACH DETACH...)
rxmin 100DBM
