Repeater for CDMA EVDO
Guys,
Did anyone ever used repeaters in CDMA EVDO network? Does anyone has any documents about it?
My client came up with the idea to use repeaters but I am against it because I am afraid as the utilization grows on the cell, the gain to the far subsribers given by the repeater would dercrease the effective cell size. So the far suscribers would try to make calls but they could not do it anyway, although the near subsribers would have higher noise as well.
Any ideas as appreciated.

Re: Repeater for CDMA EVDO
Hi, do search the forum, there were docs guidelines for deployment repeaters in cdma network.
As repeates increase coverage they decrease capacity of the cell, so from my expirience we could use repeaters only in areas with low user density and where capacity of the sector is not an issue.
So if we are not trying to provide coverage in blind spots maybe outdoor antennas at subscriber premises could provide more benefit.

Repeaters in CDMA often regarded as not very successful. You are right. Repeaters increase reverse noise floor. We have had plenty of repeaters from Huawei and ZTE but we did'nt use any for good. However, if it is some stand alone site with low traffic/users then it could serve you to extend coverage to the desired spot.

We use cdma repeaters in our network. so in repeater planning need to take into account every issue very carefully > traffic, power, walsh, rssi and so on. if the resource is ok, so you can install it
