Question "no suitable cells in location area" at Attach and RAU procedures.

    Hello Dear Members,

What can cause failing attach and RAU procedures with gmm-cause: "no suitable cells in location area" ?
What can I check at SGSN side ?
What other NE can cause such error? Some HLR profile values, functions maybe?
    Lack of RNC resources maybe?

    Thank you in advance.

Hi! This means that the VLR prevents location updating to the location.
Then that LA is added to the list of "forbidden LAs for roaming" which is stored
in the MS. MS then searches for a suitable cells in other LAs. Check first if this
LA is allowed for your IMSI in VLR/HLR.

    Thanks for your suggestion,

Will try to check for that, but I do have a problem getting a single session from a Iu interface trace on Huawei SGSN.
This means that i can't find the imsi, imsi is not included in the ATTACH REJECT , or RAU REJECT messages.

Hi! You may PM me link to your trace or try to find GMM Attach Request
with Mobile Identity Type - IMSI.
By the way if it's a single issue does it relaly impact on network KPI?

It is not a problem to find GMM Attach Request messages, but how to link it to the Attach REJECT, in order to be sure that they are of the same session?

    It does
    impact the network KPIs!
