To offload 2G colocated cell with 3G

Hi Experts,
We have colocated cells in 2G which are higly utilized, but 3G cells have ample of capacity. Kindly suggest related parameters to offload 2G Cell.

We have already changed

Qoffset1sn 7 to 10
usedFreqThresh2dEcno 12 to 14

First of all it depend to your Idle mode strategy :

1.Does by default 2G/3G supports users camps on 3G in your network?(QSC,QSI need to be checked)
2.Do you have HO from 2G to 3G? (Now a days most of operators are disabling this kind of HO in network)
3. How much traffic on 2G cells are generated by 2G/3G support users? (Generally we can not measure it from RF side)
4. Assume your network strategy is to camp on 3G by default then for 2G UeRc try to give some negative offset ("serviceoffset" ) to send users late to compressed mode just for Speech RABs.

1. Yes by default all users go to 3G, QSI/QSC are perfect
2. No 2G to 3G HO as all other operators dont follow it as well.
3. Hard to find how much 2G/3G support Ue's on 2G N/W.

4. Your point is valid to play with "serviceoffset". But it is available on RNC level. However we have problem in only one cell.

Hi mate,

In this case there is just one chance try to keep users more on 3G so you need to decrease IRAT HO att then try to send 3G users as late as possible to compressed mode but i do not think that it help you to offload your 2G cell so much due to market 3G users penetration also by this change you shall expect more Speech RAB drop on your 3G cell.

HUawei system supports HO based service enabled call move from 3g to 2g when mobile initiat the call. But not sure if it is possible the other way.

It is not possible in E******* system its name is Srvice based HO "SBHO" and it is exactly giving IRAT HO for Speech user during preRAB phase of call set up so it is from 3G->2G not vise versa
