Default Mean Duration of Call Establishment in Huawei

    Dear,

In Huawei we have the counter AA033 which provides the duration from the time that the BSC receives the CHAN RQD message from the BTS to the time that the BSC detects the duration of the first ALERTING message (uplink or downlink) during a call.

This measurement provides the mean duration of call establishment.

    Measurement point
Accumulated Duration of Call Establishment is the accumulated duration from the time the MS receives the CHANNEL REQUIRED message from the BSC to the time the BSC receives the first ALERTING message (uplink or downlink) within the granularity period.

The value of Sampling Times of Call Establishment is added by one when the BSC receives the first ALERTING message (uplink or downlink).

[Accumulated Duration of Call Establishment]/[Sampling Times of Call Establishment]

    The unit is : HMS

When I made an export of this counter i found some result neat 50 hms (per BSC)

How the Mean Duration of Call Establishment can be high like that ? what does it mean the unit hms ?

    Tkx for your help

    hms means hundred milli seconds
    For example 50hms = 5sec

    Hello there,

Within RAN 12 documentation there is a file related to parameters, in this file huawei documented all the RNC parameters in addition to their effect on performance. I think this will be a good start for you.

    Hi,
I suppose Channel required is for SDCCH not for TCH.
Anyway first you should look processes at SDCCH level: how often authentification is done (every call or once every 10th for example), how about early classmark?
Other thing that you should look at is Paging: how good/bad is your 1st and 2nd paging success rate? How many paging groups do you have?
There are many things that you should look at. For example calls to other networks can influence it, if your network is congested and many calls are put in que/DR to other cell. You should also try to understand if this problem is for 2G to 2G calls or for 2G to 3G.
First make some TEMS test calls from one TEMS to another and analyse massage flow, this will give you a lot of insight where to proceed next.
