Default PCU internal BSC 6900 PDCH capacity

    Hi all,

Please kindly help for PCU internal BSC 6900 PDCH capacity, and how to check how many % utilisation of each PCU/NSEI from measurement/counter ?

    many thanks

    Hi Orazak,

    Below may help you:

    Gb and PDUd Dimensioning:

You have to know that PCU and RPP are boards of external PCU. All Huawei BSCs change external PCU to internal PCU for GBSS9.0 version.

    1. how to calculate the needed Gb link and DPUd boards?
Needed Gb Links = (Planned) PS BH traffic (MB)*1024*8/3600/(64*0.7), Gb Circuit Utilization Ratio=0.7
One DPUd can support 1024 PDCH TS.
    2. every BSC has 2 DPUd boards(1+1 backup), total 1024 PDCH TS(static&dynamic) be handled by one board.

And regarding measurements and counter to check the utilizatilon:
    1. Gb interface utilization:
    BC Link Uplink utilization= BC.TRAN.UP.UTILIZATION.RATE
    BC Link Downlink utilization= BC.TRAN.DOWN.UTILIZATION.RATE
If any of above utilizations is more than 80%, expansion is needed.
    1. DPUD board utilization:
Any Counter of PEAK.USAGE and AVERAGE.USAGE is more than 70% percentage, expansion is needed

    3. Cell [PDCH] utilization:

    PDCH utilization= R9310/R9302*100
    Counter R9310= TOTAL.NUM.OCCU.PDCH
    Counter R9302= SAMPLE.NUM.AVAIL.PDCH
If the utilization is more than 80%, MAXPDCHRATE can be changed to 60.

    Thanks pioneerlex,

    regarding to this info
    2. every BSC has 2 DPUd boards(1+1 backup), total 1024 PDCH TS(static&dynamic) be handled by one board.

    and

    1.DPUD board utilization:
Any Counter of PEAK.USAGE and AVERAGE.USAGE is more than 70% percentage, expansion is needed

what is the exactly counter about PEAK.USAGE and AVERAGE.USAGE per DPU ? compare with capacity 1 DPU can only handle 1024 PDCH

    just want to clarify,
    2. for DPUd only need 1 backup, so if your plan need 3 DPUd, so you should add 4 (3+1 as backup). If plan 5, you have to prepare 6 (5+1 for standby).

1.For DPUD board utilization: you can check from
AR9509:Average Number of PDCHs Occupied on DSP
R9506:Maximum Number of PDCHs Occupied on DSP
One DPUd board have 22 DSP number and the methode is loadshare.

For PDCH utilization per BSC you can count from: AR9204/(1024*(number of DPUd installed)-1) -> -1 means exclude the standby/backup board.
AS9204:Average Number of PDCHs Occupied per BSC

do have any document to shared regarding internal PCU - utilization

Just add some info, for Number 1, : Applied only for Gb over FR
