Default HR conversion Siemens and Nokia.

    Hi

Have a generic doubt and requires a clear answer.

How is call converted to HR .

    1)First normal FR to HR.?
    2)AMR FR to AMR HR?

Will all slots convert to HR when it meets HR threshold or the existing call will continue in HR and remaining idle converts to HR?

Requires solution for Siemens and Nokia.

    Regards

the idle Dual Rate timeslots will be assigned to new calls as half rate when the threshold (lower limit for FR TCH resources) is exceeded
but for the already existing calls , there is another threshold to trigger FR/HR packing process

for Huawei same scenario when the load threshold on the cell exceeded the new calls will be assigned as half rate
and if the intracell handover between FR/HR is activated then this feature will work too

    Hi,

First of all in Nokia, there are broadly three types of TS configuration possible TCHF, TCHH, TCHD. This determine the idle state of the TS.
i.e. TCHD idle state will be ID ID. for TCHF - ID and TCHH. ID ID.

Both Normal and AMR are governed by the same rule for TS conversion.

As mentioned above when threshold is exceeded HR calls will be assigned but it will not change all TS to HR, if the next incoming call is below the threshold of upper limit then it can also assign Full rate call

Normal Call are converted to HR/FR by the settings of FRL/FRU.
where as AMR are converted to AMRHR/AMRFR by setting of AFRL/AFRU.

please note HR conversion in AMR is a feature based a parameter modification requires licenses.. generally operator do have it.. but some don't. Also if the parameter are not set in the BTS then it can be controlled directly by BSC setting. For case of FRL/FRU/AFRL/AFRU. BTS parameter setting have the controlling power, i.e. BSC setting will be overridden by BTS setting!!!!!.

Actually, the up & down Thresholds are triggers from HR to FR and vice vice versa. So It same as dynamic half rate, isn't it?
