    Default cell utilization

    Hi,

What is the right way to calculate cell utilization [%] for E******* 2G network,
Taking into consideration that Half-Rate feature is activated on the cell.

    Thanks

    Hi wave,

Utilization is a not affected by HR% or FR%, it a function of how many Radio TS is used at any given time. correct way to calculate the utilization will be utilization = Carried Traffic / Offered Traffic i.e Carried TRaffic/ErlangB((( Total TS in TRX) - (Signalling like BCCH,SDCCH) - (DATA TS in Dedicated capacity))).

This is because HR doesn't increases capacity but changes how traffic is handled by the BSC on a TS.

    Hope this helps u.

    Thanks louvre,

The Calculation according to e******* is: ((TFTRALACC/TFNSCAN)*TAVASCAN) / TAVAACC
This should give me the TCH utilization in [%]. but it also says that this is only for the case of Full-Rate network only.
The document does not specify what to do if HR is enabled.

    what should I do?

    Thanks
