Questions about BTS HW
Hello,
I have a newbie questions regarding BTS HW, specifically for E******* GSM network.
I've heard the term Cabinet used a lot. Does a cabinet mean a BTS?
for example a BTS can support up to 12 TRX. If you would like to add more TRX to the site you need to add a cabinet.
is that cabinet a standalone BTS that has been connected to the first BTS.
If not what is the difference between a BTS and a Cabinet.
Thanks!

Re: Questions about BTS HW
The BTS cabinet consists of the common subrack, Which contains the boards and FAN
subrack.
The cabinet only doesn't mean BTS. The BTS = Cabinet + boards(duplexe, combiner,TRX,transmission boards, OM boards...)

Re: Questions about BTS HW
Thanks wireless_houss,
So if I have a GSM BTS with 2 cabinets, one for 900 MHz and the other for 1800 MHz, and each cabinet has 12 trx.
Can I shutdown only one cabinet out of the two.
for example, can I shutdown only the 1800MHz cabinet?
also does each cabinet has the same energy consumption (assuming they are the same model and configuration)?

Re: Questions about BTS HW
in this case they seem like two sites (with full configuration) in the same area.
we do it a lot as a solution in high trafic area to reduce congestion rate in the 900Mhz site also if the trafic decrease in that area we can switch off the 1800Mhz site
