    Question IPv6 in User Plane

    Hello Friends,

Has any Network deployed IPv6 in User Plane in Rel7 HSPA+ Network ? We are done with IPv4 Public Addresses and are not getting any new IPv4 Public Addresses here in Asia.
Rel 7 Supports PDP types as IPv4 / IPv6 / PPP. PDP Type settings are done at HLR – User Subscriptions – IPv4.
How do we find if a UE supports IPv6 PDP ? (from IMEI – Make / Model)
If the UE supports IPv6 PDP we would then be required to change User HLR Subscription to IPv6. Also, the UE needs to request for IPv6 PDP as part of ‘Create PDP Context Request’ Msg ? Then the User would be allocated IPv6 PDP.

However if the same user changes UE which does not support IPv6 PDP then User HLR Subscription needs to be changed to IPv4. It’s pretty Complex.

    Enlightenment would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Does your RNC and aggregator router supports IPv6? If it does, there should be no problem.

I am talking from the point of IPv6 Address Allocation in User Plane and not Control Plane where we have UE / HLR dependency.
