how do operators estimate the no. of nodeBs needed to service 1million people that use about 1GB/month in a city of 40sq. km area uniformly spread each with an average speed of 1 mbps (given a spectrum of 5 MHz)?
and how does this vary with increase in people/data rate keeping other factors constant?
If you know of any free tools, or have some models or anyother relevant material that would be of great help.
- You need to know which vendor you are using first, and calculate the number of supported subscribers with the data rate you are giving per cell (say this number is 350subs/cell)
- Than you need to know your market penetration (say 10%, you know have 100,000 subscribers)
- Considering you have 1 carrier and 3 sectors node'Bs and 80% loading, 100,000/(350*0.8)/3 = 119
