E******* 2G to 3G cell reselection Problem
In all most all the NODE-B, i am facing reselection problem in idel mode. when coming from 2g to 3g, in some hand set, i am unable to get the 3g signal unless manually search from handset and in some sony e******* handset (eg w910i) i am unable to get the 3g signal even after manual search. In almost all the handset, i am unable to get 3g signal automatically in DUAL MODE in handset. The parameters I set in the BSC are
QSC=7
QSCI=0
QSI=7
FDDMRR=1
FDDQMIN=6
FDDQOFF=0 and
ISHOLEV=99.
I am new to UMTS so please tell me the whether the parameters are correct. and definition of the parameters in details.

Re: E******* 2G to 3G cell reselection Problem
Just try to set Qsearch I and FDDQOF to be always and as a know there is a parameter in BSC level need to be activated.
I dont know the parameter name but as per my expereience working with E// BSC, we have to look at this parameter.

My BSC is of E*******. Please kindly help me how to set QSearch I and required parameters in the BSC. Thank you for valuable information

Hi,
I think currently your parameter OK.
I suggest more some steps you can check:
- The features GSM-UMTS Cell Reselection and Handover is activated or not. If COEXUMTS = 2,3,4 it should be OK, otherwise you can cell reselection to 3G.
- SI 2quater sent or not in TEMS (layer 3 message), if sent it means UE already measured 3G signal. otherwise UE couldn't to 3G.

Thank you.
Can you please tell me where do i find "If COEXUMTS = 2,3,4"

Re: E******* 2G to 3G cell reselection Problem
Your FDDQOF is 0, just put always or minus infinity.
Look at the parameter description, i dont know e/// parameter descrition

Hi,
I did not remember exactly. IF COEXUMTS = 1,2,3,4, it should be OK.
You can check this parameter in BSC:
RAEPP:ID=COEXUMTS;
COEXUMTS is used to enable the features GSM-UMTS Cell Reselection and Handover, Combined Cell Reselection Triggering and Combined Handover Triggering GSM to WCDMA. The parameter is a BSC exchange property.
0 OFF ; GSM-UMTS Cell Reselection and Handover and Combined Cell Reselection Triggering GSM to WCDMA are not activated.
1 ON; GSM-UMTS Cell Reselection and Handover is activated
2 ONADDINFO; GSM-UMTS Cell Reselection and Handover and Combined Cell Reselection Triggering GSM to WCDMA are activated
3 ONADDINFO; GSM-UMTS Cell Reselection and Handover and Combined Handover Triggering GSM to WCDMA are activated
4 ONADDINFO; GSM-UMTS Cell Reselection and Handover, Combined Cell Reselection Triggering GSM to WCDMA and Combined Handover Triggering GSM to WCDMA are activated

You can check this parameter in BSC:
RAEPP:ID=COEXUMTS;
Additionally, It should be better if you define 3G neighbours in 2G cell.
UMFI (MFDDARFCN-MSCRCODE-DIVERSITY) defines the frequency, scrambling code and diversity information for a UTRAN neighbouring cell.
MFDDARFCN indicates the absolute RF channel number of the neighbouring UTRAN cell to be measured on by Multi-RAT MSs.
MSCRCODE is the scrambling code for the neighbouring cell. The scrambling code has 512 values.
DIVERSITY indicates if diversity is applied for the UTRAN cell, or not.
This parameter is defined per GSM cell.

Thank you. I have checked in my BSC and Parameters are
COEXUMTS-1
COEXUMTSLSH-0
COEXUMTSINT-1000

Re: E******* 2G to 3G cell reselection Problem
In e******* system FDDQOFF-0 means "infinite, always select an UTRAN FDD Cell"
