Could I use TEMS 8.2.x and UE for UMTS drive test?

I'm sure that I could let the mobile just see the UMTS network and select any SC I want

but TEMS technical support told me:
In TI 8.2.x there is no mobile which can do scanning in the WCDMA band. They can only do scanning in the GSM band,
If you have TEMS Investigation 9.0 and the Z750i mobile you can do scanning with that mobile if it has the scanning option added.

so what do you see?

My objective is recording (accurate) signal stregnth from Real UMTS mobile stations to use it as a reference for UMTS model validation.

you can use any supported ue, not only z750.
