I have question about the following parameter setting which could be a problem. The parameter “SSearchRAT“ is decreased from the value 4 dB to 2dB. The Ue starts the 2G measurements when the Eke/No are -16dB.
In my opinion, it makes no sense to have this setting, because calls which belong to 2G should be reselected to 2G and not longer stay in 3G.
Could you prove that for me? Any hint, comment is appreciated.
Hi kema2103,
ssearchrat control when the ue will reselect from 3g to 2g in idle mode. This is important at the 3g fringe area or indoor where 3g coverage is weak(e.g. GSM900 have better indoor coverage). So this parameter is important else the ue will remain in 3g with weak coverage and call fail! the threshold also depend on the qqualmin
Sx =Squal = Qqualmeas – Qqualmin
If Sx > SsearchRAT m, UE need not perform measurements on cells of RAT
