    Default Traffic handover

    Is there any way of offloading a highly loaded sector with a lower loaded one using the traffic handover? Can I get the parameter settings required ? Should i change any parameter at the destination sector too?Using NSN system with a siemens platform..

    There is a number of parameters you should consider:

    BSC: TRFCT (def. 20, halfsec.) - Traffic control timer, this parameter determines the time between two consecutive traffic load checks which are performed by the BSC.
    HAND: TRFHITH (def. 90, %) - Traffic handover high threshold, specifies the cell traffic load that leads to the enabling of traffic handover in the BTS.
    HAND: TRFHOT (def. 10, sec.) - the timer is used to cyclically decrease the dynamic traffic handover margin, if the traffic handover remains enabled for a longer time period, set it as TRFHOT (HAND) > TRFCT (BSC).
    HAND: TRFHOE=TRUE, enables the feature "Handover due to BSS resource management criteria" ("traffic handover").

    Cheers

    thanks for the reply...but should this parameter be enabled at both source and destination or at source only?

    currenly i have enabled the parameters in source cell only..but it is not giving the results...One cell is taking 90 er and other 15 er....seems the default values will not work...Any idea of how to change the default values..

    Hi,

    I think you have to set the flag TRFHOE=TRUE in target cells too, perhaps the reason behind that is the necessary calculation of the "traffic budget" in the target cell before consider it suitable.

    Below you can find the parameters used for system acceptance tests, where BTS:0 is source cell and BTS:1,2,3 are target cells:

    1. SET BSC [BASICS]:
    TRFCT=10; (traffic control timer, this timer specifies the cycle, in which the
    BSC periodically checks the traffic situation in all its cells.)

    2. SET HAND [BASICS]:NAME=<bts0>,
    TRFHOE=TRUE, (traffic HO enabled flag)
    TRFHITH=60, (traffic load threshold for enabling of traffic HO)
    TRFLTH=40, (traffic load threshold for incoming traffic handover acceptance)
    TRFHOT=10, (traffic HO escalation/de-escalation timer)
    TRFMS=1, (traffic HO margin reduction stepsize and minimum reduction for traffic HO margin)
    TRFMMA=4, (maximum traffic HO margin reduction)
    TRFKPRI=FALSE, (traffic keep priority, if TRUE, then a target cell MUST have
    the equal priority level like the serving cell,
    if FALSE, an equal or higher one.)
    3. SET HAND [BASICS]:NAME=<bts1,bts2,bts3>,
    TRFHOE=TRUE, (traffic HO enabled flag)
    TRFHITH=90, (traffic load threshold for enabling of traffic HO)
    TRFLTH=70; (traffic load threshold for incoming traffic handover acceptance)
    4. SET ADJC:NAME=< bts0->bts1, bts1->bts0 >
    TRFHOM=53*, (traffic handover margin, 53 ( -10dB) *
    BHOFOT=20; (back handover forbidden timer, determines how long
    back handovers due to traffic or power budget are
    not allowed after successful completion of a
    traffic handover).
    TRFHORXLVMOFF=6; (traffic handover RX level offset, is added to
    RXLEVMIN for the calculation of the traffic
    handover minimum criterion, default value is
    TRFHORXLVMOFF= 6dB

    * Attention!
    For dualband neighbour cell relations the TRFHOM has to be adapted (+3dB for GSM->DCS, and –3dB for DCS->GSM relations):
    TRFHOM = 53 (for DCS->DCS and GSM->GSM)
    TRFHOM = 56 (for GSM->DCS)
    TRFHOM = 50 (for DCS->GSM)

    **************
    Hope this helps.
