Hi
Can anybody explain how works and strategics for LTE usign Fractional Frequency Reuse for improve the Inter-Cell Interference Coordination (ICIC)?
Thanks

Cell Interference Control
ICIC(Inter-Cell Interference Coordination)
ICIC is one solution for the cell interference control,
is essentially a schedule strategy. In LTE, some coordination schemes,
like SFR (Soft Frequency Reuse) and FFR (Fractional Frequency Reuse)
can control the interference in cell edges to enhance the frequency
reuse factor and performance in the cell edges.
SFR Fundamentals
SFR is one effective solution of inter-cell interference control.
The system bandwidth is separated into primary band and
secondary band with different transmit power.
Sample SFR 1X3X1
SFR 1×3×1 UL ICIC
Cells from different sites: frequency division, could be adjusted periodically due to edge load
Cells in the same site: time division. Edge users are scheduled in odd and even subframe
SFR 1×3×1 DL ICIC
Cell edge: frequency division, separated by transmit power
Cell central: all bandwidth are transmitted. Control coverage to reduce interference
hope will be give information
and FFR will be same with WIMAX or LTE TDD

Re: LTE Fractional Frequency Reuse
Little note about SFR and FFR , little comparation
SFR 1X3X1 and FFR 1X3X1
Similarity
- Reduce interference by time or frequency division
- Cell center using more bandwidth resource, the cell edge using 1/3 bandwidth
Difference
FFR is based mainly on time division; while SFR is based on frequency division
- With FFR, the cell center will be using all sub-carriers;
- SFR only allow the use of about 2/3 bandwidth at cell center
- FFR sub channel generally fixed at 1/3 of overall bandwidth ;
- SFR is adjustable at or around 1/3 BW by using dynamic ICIC

dear koepret,
Thanks a lot for your good explanation.....
Easier to understanding....

Re: LTE Fractional Frequency Reuse
till now NO vendor has implented these solutions.....
only reuse 1 or reuse 3 is used
and in reuse 1 PCI planning is done by mod 3

from information i get and read ,
For FFR 1X3X1 already implement in Mobily Wimax Operator in saudi
they already make combination WIMAX and LTE TDD
For FFR 1X3X3 BF already implementation in Vivid Wireless and they are will be combine also WIMAX and LTE TDD
but for SFR for LTE FDD , may be need find that information

thanks for sharing the info,
can you share the vendor name, i will try to get real deployment data.
As per info i have, on 20th April, Wimax TDD & LTE SHowcased 1st time in the world
