Ceragon 1528 7 GHz hope at 3 miles
We have the following scenario using (trying to use ) a Ceragon Hope at just 3 miles:
- two FibeAir 1528 IDUs
- two FibeAir 1528 ODUs model 15-O-E-7 at 7.1-7.9 GHz
- two RFS single polarized antennas 2 ft 7.1-8.5 GHz
- two 1 meter waveguides
- 1 diplexer 7470 MHz at low band center and 7624 MHz at high band center
- 1 diplexer 7582 MHz at low band center and 7827 MHz at high band center
We are pursuing to set up a link but we could not so far. In fact, we don't know what to do anymore. Because of this we need some help. We have tried al the frequencies combinations that our country permits but we almost always have a -99 Monitored RX level.
The following leds are RED:
- Line
- LOF
- BER
- RMT
and ODU (RFU) is yellow (probably because our incorret Tx/Rx parameters).
1) Are the diplexers incompatible because of their frequencies?
2) Do we need a dual polarized antenna to use with these radios?
3) We mount one end in tx high (diplexer towards up) and the other one in tx low (diplexer towards down). Are we right?
4) We are setting the RX frequency of one end EQUAL to TX frequency of other end and vice versa. Are we right?
5) Do we need to set up a TX channel? Sometimes it comes red on its field.
We will appreciate any further information besides our doubts.

regarding to your issue which you raised please note that, if you use the 1st Diplexer combination, you must set up in the RFU a 28Mhz channel.
The transmitt frequency of one end of the link must be the receive frequency at the other end of the link and vice versa. To use single polarity antennas is ok but you must use the same polarisation at both antennas (vertical or horizontal). For a 3miles hop please use the lowest output level you can to avoid a RX overload.

Line = indicates a Loss of Signal at your line interfaces (proprobably no equipment connected, you can ignore this)

use your 1st oppertunity and set the RFU script to 28 Mhz channels and use following frequencies: High Band = 7624.00 & Low Band = 7470.00 Mhz

No! 1 pol antennas are enough but make sure you use the the same polarzation at both ends that means both waveguides horizontal or vertical connected to the antenna

Yes RFU's works according to ITU or FCC standarts

where you can see a yellow RFU symbol ?
In the IDU's panel and in the Ceraview Element Manager software. They both show a yellow LED. According to the hint, showed in the software screen, it's because ODU is in high temperature OR TX and RX frequencies are not known by the system.

What exactly do you mean? High Band = TX in one end = RX in the other one? I am still confused about High Band and Low Band. Sorry if I am a dummy but sincerely I am still confused about these concepts.

Are the waveguides polarized? The antennas we are sure: they are both in Vertical.

Hi GeGalina,
1) do you have the opportunity to get some "Configuration Reports" from the IDU? Connect your PC to the IDU and LogIn into the unit and go to FILE and try to download the configuration file. Next, send me some PART-Numbers of your equipment, you can find they on the stickers on the units.
2) the modulation scheme in the IDU is fixed at the 1528 system. Do you use a 16 or 128 QAM IDU?
3) give me the total frequency range and the mid frequency of the diplexer you want to use, you can find it on a sticker on the diplexer (hopefully)
4) waveguides are not polarized, be sure that you install the waveguide in the same direction like the interface at the antenna
5) do you have some pictures of your installation & system

Diplexer #1 at TX High ODU:
- Low band center: 7582 MHz

Hi GeGalina,
thanks for your pics, now the picture of your problem is much clearer than befor.
Your biggest problem is that you use 2 different channels in your diplexer.
Look at pics 12 & 26. At the site in pic 12 you use the diplexer with Low Band Center frequency = 7582.0 Mhz & High Band Center frequency = 7827.0 Mhz. And at the remote site,pic 26, you use diplexer with Low Band frequency = 7470.0 Mhz and High Band frequency = 7624.0 Mhz. That are 2 different channels in the 7.5 Ghz band.
Try to get a diplexer frequency pair and use this and then it will work.
The waveguides are proper installed at the antenna, both use the V plane.
