    Default AMR (HR/FR) configuration in 2G Siemens

    I've got a BS (2G Siemens) that has a high %BCR and I, looking at the traffic statistics I can see that all its traffic is done in FR. I want to change the HR threshold but I can't understand well how it works.

    I think these are the parameters that I need to change:

    fullRateActivationAMRtHRESHOLD1 = default value of 3000
    fullRateActivationAMRtHRESHOLD1 = default value of 3000

    hRActivationAmrThreshold1 = default value of 6000
    hRActivationAmrThreshold1 = default value of 6000

    I seems like the values are set according to the percentage of busy TCH on the sector... (i.e.) 6000 should be equal to 60%. Is that right?

    Isn't there a way to configure that all the traffic should be Half-rate?

    Thks in advance

    Dear Friend,..

    Can i know wich one Siemens BSC version you are using BR 8 / BR 9 or higher than this ??

    From my Experience to Adjust and Activate Halfrate both AMR or Non AMR using this parameter :

    EHRACT = True
    EHRACTAMR = True

    and for Percentage of using HR and FR using this parameter :
    HRACTT1 --> for Non AMR
    HRACTAMRT1 --> For AMR

    the function of HRACTT1 and HRACTAMRT1 as bellow :

    The unit is in 0.01% so the value is from 0 -- 10000 (the lower value you set the more HR channel will be used)

    according to this formula :
    Traffic Load = No. TCH in Bussy State / No. TCH in Enable

    so the value of HRACTT1 and HRACTAMRT1 as lower threshold of Traffic Load for decesion using Halfrate Channel...

    Regards,...

    Most of the network is using BR9.. let me take a minute to read your post and see if I can understand, since I'm just now learning the trade :P

    Is there any way to force the TRX to use only HR?
    Will this affect much the sound quality of a call?

    thanks

    don_hardiawan... it's exactly like you said.
    The only thing I wasn't understanding was the threshold for FR.. but speaking with a friend of mine he told me that those FR thresholds aren't relevant because of other 2 parameters that are disabling it.

    So, everything you have to configure is the threshold when the BS starts to use HR. If you configure it to "0" it will always use HR.

    thanks+

    hi

    this are the parameters in HR and FR
    Enabling HR and AMR HR

    EHRACT--TRUE
    EHRACTAMR---TRUE

    Parmeters reuired settings
    HRACTT1----HR for T1 (primary)
    HRACTT2----HR for T2 (Secondary)
    HRACTAMRT1----for AMR HR T1
    HRACTAMRT2----for AMR HR T2
    FRACTTH1-----for FR T1
    FRACTTH2-----FR T2
    FRACTAMRTH1---FR AMR T1
    FRACTAMRTH2---FR AMR T2
    EPAT1----Enhanced pairing T1
    EPAT2----Enhanced Pairing T2

    Primary is for outercell cell and secondary mention the Innercell
