I feel like: LTE has future, i.e LTE A (Advance!)

Wimax is good only for ISP.

Is WImax being used for voice anywhere currently or is it being deployed for only data?

LTE will score over WiMAX in terms of mobility support and seamless integration with the existing networks. WiMAX will find a niche for limited mobility applications and fixed broadband solutions.

WiMAX supports triple play services. There are two types of QoS explicity defined by IEEE to support VoIP (rtPS and ertPS) in WiMAX So, i don't envisage any problem for voice deployment over the WiMAX air interface. There are a number of platforms supporting VoIP. It is the call the operators should make, considering all the regualtory aspects, whether to support end to end VoIP. DigitalBridge Communications (DBC) announced the first commercially available VoIP services over a WiMAX network in the U.S in 2008.

There are plenty of company's offering VoIP solutions. One such is D2 Technologies and Sequans Communications offer of VoIP over WiMAX for 4G Home Gateways and Routers
