There seems to be three schools of thought regarding GSM drive test mode.
1. The first school uses dedicated mode and idle mode.
2. The second school uses dedicated mode and scanning mode.
3. The third school uses dedicated mode, call sequence and idle mode.

Dedicated mode is used for quality and overshooting measurements. Idle mode is used for coverage measurements. Scanning mode is used or coverage and overshooting measurements.

As far as I have understood, call sequence is used for analyzing user experience of network quality as well as getting reasons for events like call failure, call blocking etc. Because, events like call failure, call blocking etc can be seen from the BSC. The only thing missing in the BSC is field level radio environment info during those events. Am I right?

Please tell me if I am wrong.
