Dears,
If your network is using Transmission over ATM and have PDH and SDH routes you can check easily for transmission problems using the below 4 counters

Unavailable Seconds UAS_15
The counter is incremented for every second when the interface is in a period of unavailable time. Unavailable time starts when either a defect is active or at the beginning of 10 contiguous severely errored seconds (SES). Unavailable time ends at the beginning of 10 contiguous not severely errored seconds and the absence of all defects. The value of the counter is updated every second.

Errored Seconds ES_15
Counts the number of seconds with one or more errored blocks or at least one defect. Errored block is a block in which one ore more bits are corrupted. Defect: LOS, LOF, AIS. ES are not incremented during Unavailable Seconds (UAS).

Severely errored seconds SES_15
Severely Errored Seconds (SES): Counts the number of seconds which contain at least 30% errored blocks or one or more defects. Errored block is a block in which one ore more bits are corrupted. Defect: LOS, LOF, AIS. SES is a subset of ES. SES are not incremented during Unavailable Seconds (UAS).

Background Block Errors BBE_15
Background Block Errors (BBE): counts the number of errored blocks. Errored block is a block in which one or more bits are corrupted. Corruption is detected by inspecting the CRC information and/or the Frame Alignment Signal (FAS). Does not count during during SES or UAS.
