treshold from 3G to HSDPA

Dear, friends

I 'm study about UMTS network and metodology, and I still have some questions about, what kind of parameter that used to migrate from 3G network to HSDPA?, sometimes, when we were download via 3G, and then after a few minutes later, the network we've used was change to HSDPA, shown at the indicator on our MS. Please show me the reasons or Literature.:)

Hi,

HSDPA uses a modulation adaptive in its transmission. It depends on the SNR of the received signal.
If it is high it can use a modulation more efficient (16-QAM) and an increase in throughput.
The same hapens when you change from UMTS (QPSK) to HSDPA (16-QAM).
There is also some configurations from network side at user profile so that there is a capacity balance between the users, but this is dependant on the operator policy.
