For those interested in getting Microsoft Building Footprints based on an Area of Interest, rather than downloading the complete dataset, try the python tool (https://docs.overturemaps.org/getting-data/overturemaps-py/) that works with Overture Maps.
Works okay for Atoll, HTZ and others that can use building vector files.
Input the coordinates for a bounding box and file output name and type.
With the output in geojson, it can be imported into Global Mapper or QGIS, manipulated and exported in the required format to suit the application.
Overture Maps also has other data that might be useful.
