Hi mates, a question for you. Kindly share your experience.

For offloading a Macro sector, what could be the best option and that really works (except spectrum addition)

1- Sector split (two instead of one with narrow BW)
2- Small Cells (Targeting hotspots)
3- A small/mini macro (say 20m for SU area)

Sector split or addition of one more sector with narrower Beamwidth (say two with 35 Beamwidth instead of the loaded one with 65 degree Beamwidth) is said to be not that useful, is it really so???

Consider high bands 1900/2100/2300/2600

Thanks

On high sites, 2 sectors can be used vertically. The difference between the slopes should be 8-10 degrees. Antennas with a small vertical radiation pattern. For example, this.

Thanks Dimitry. But do you have any practical implementation in field, or it is theoretical? if you have in field example, what is your experience about the load balancing?? does it really do the job? How would you term the slope difference into tilts? is it like 8 ET on one antenna and say 0 ET on the other above antenna? Could you share the Atoll pattern if you have. Thank you, I never had this example before.

Here are the patterns in Atoll format
43333

the difference between the antenna angles depends on the frequency, height and type of antenna. You can calculate the different options in Atoll yourself. In our case, we used a mechanical tilt and an electric one to get a good result.
