Hi all

I have a MTP850 that is connected to a USB to Serial converter and a NKN6544B cable. When I press 1 9 and red power button for over a minute, the radio would not enter programming mode and it stays dark. When I press red power button, the radio powers on normally. Can it be the CPS disabled programming mode?

Thanks!

Hi,

Try to click the Search for rs232 radios under tools and try it again. With an serial cable it's a little tricky to get in in programming mode. You could also try to use an native serial port which is recommended.

Best regards

Thank you, would it be that the radio is purposely programmed by previous user to disable entering programming mode or is that not possible?

No. As long as it's starts it works. Try to first press 1 9 and on then click the button in the software.

Thanks,
I tried a different usb to serial converter and connected the radio to the computer, still no luck. According to the service manual, the flashing / programming mode is only possible when the radio is connected to CPS?

that's not entirely true. make sure you use a programming cable with the switch in the right position. (flashmode)
Bootloader should be able to load from CPS then.

Hi all,

Just want to report that after receiving the USB programming cable, PMKN4026B, the radio programmed up like a charm. Thanks all !
