Nokia : 8s to 10s !!

Hi,

It is a little tricky issue . Few things you need to clarify and double check listed below:

1. For which service you re checking RwR (Fast Return to LTE) . Your test is based on CS Call , USSD, Incomplete CS call, PS Call , etc
2. What phone model you are using while doing the benchmarking ? iPhone and Android behave differently for different vendors for RwR to 4G functionality !!
3. Make sure fast return to LTE is activated and properly configured in Nokia region as 100% sure fast return to 4G is activated in your Huawei region that's why you have redirection in ~2sec but in Nokia normal reselection take place !

4. There might be supplementary feature/configuration for fast return to LTE in Nokia region which may stop the RwR trigger to LTE in poor RF condition(E******* has optional coverage check criteria for RwR to LTE) hence user latch in 3G and doing normal selection after a while

Hi

You need to play with T1 triggers in 3G. many times UE will remain in Cell-DCH state so that it could not measure , need to move to Cell-PCH or Cell-FACH to measure LTE.
need to ensure its T1,T2,T3,T8 "enbaled for all triggers".

For 2G to 4G CSFB, we found that that the key to fast return to LTE is to use the "Cell Reselection" parameter in the Channel Release message from the BSC. Works nicely, almost all phones are back on LTE 1-2 seconds after a CSFB Voice Call. We are using non-Nokia BSC, so dont ask me how to configure this on Nokia BSC.
