A3 intra-freq handover trigger with RSRQ instead of RSRP

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone uses RSRQ to trigger the A3 measurement report for intra frequency handover instead of the more usual RSRP and what benefits they'd seen. I've seen Vodafone UK/IT and AT&T/Verizon use it but I wondered if anyone has evaluated the benefits of it compared to RSRP + MRO.

it will trigger quickly than RSRP. it is better to use on county border areas to maintain the KPIs.

Just be aware that due to the fluctuating nature of RSRQ you can quite easily get to a point where your UEs in between sectors will ping-pong based on the traffic density. So you might need some fine tuning if you chose to use RSRQ as trigger instead of RSRP.
