Hi experts,

Any advice how to configure a scanner to measure a CW(continuous wave) signal from a CW transmitter?
Do I have to configure it in GSM mode or UMTS mode or LTE mode? thing is that the CW signal is of nearly no bandwidth just a central frequency and no logical/digital information to decode like a BCCH or a PSC or a PCI.
Any ideas?
Thank you.

Normally, CW measurment is an option/feature by its own. So you would need to select that. I know that sometimes operators do not buy that feature. And they tune with GSM, UMTS,LTE drive test data.

Thanks a lot for your answer, do you consider still the measurement its suitable for propagation model tuning?

If you have the possibility to do CW measurements, than go for it. As you already have a CW transmitter and a scanner it would make sense to try to get the a licence for CW measurements on your scanner. You could ask for a trial licence and compare the results, CW measurements vs Drivetest measurements. And upon this go for the appropriate solution.

If it’s not possible, than you only have the choice to use drive test data. Guess results from this, will still be superior to no tuning at all.

CW measurement is a basic test for a scanner, you can set any mode since the cw signal's bandwidth is quite narrow.
