Dear LTE Eperts,

What will be the impact of increasing the LTE BW from 10M to 20M on UE TX PWR ?

In DL more BW require higher total PWR . WHat about th UL ?

Good Question.
From my point of view there is not any formula to calculate it.
You can make a study trying to understand what is the DL bitrate compared to UL.
If you double de BW you should make the same study. If you find there is an increase of UL, that will represent the impact on UE comsumption.
There is not a direct relation to the BW used but indirectly the new User Applications the wider BW allows. And the limit is what the UE support regarding Maximum Bitrate (UE Class).

I would say that, yes, a wider BW in DL corresponds to a more UE comsumption.

Hope it helps

Obviously, the battery drain will be higher if the network allocates all the resource blocks to the UE. The higher the data rate, the more is the power requirement by the UE. This will discharge the battery faster.

Higher Tput equals as well less transmission time for the same amount of data. And therefore battery drain can be partially compensated..

Partially agreed.
When higher bitrate is available you try new services accordingly. So, I would expect an increase in UL.

When you consider the energy per bit (Eb) for a given transmission speed, the Eb will drop once the transmission speed is increased. To maintain the Eb value, there needs to be a corresponding increase in the transmit power. Eb/No is the holy grail. It needs to be maintained at a fixed value for a given service. Power control or AMC is needed to maintain the Eb level to a constant value. So, increasing data rate will require increased power, which results in more battery drain.
