View Full Version : Reference Signal Power vs. RSRP - attenuation

Hi all,

I have a doubt regarding the relationship between the parameter REFERENCESIGNALPWR (Reference signal power) configured for the LTE cell in the PDSCHCfg object and the Reference Signal received Power (RSRP) read into the UE.

Lets imagine I configure my LTE cell to REFERENCESIGNALPWR = 120, that is 12 dBm.

If I read an RSRP = -88 dBm in my UE, that means I have a total attenuation of 100 dB (100 = 12 - (-88)) into the radio interface (taking into account antenna gains, feeder and cable losses, rain, etc.)?

Can I do a so straight calculation? Or is it more complex?

Check the RS Power from SIB2 Broadcasted to UE and then calculate the Pathloss.

There is any way to read SIB2 in real time (no drive test or traces)?

SIB is L3 RRC message, can only be seen by a trace. just about as RT as it gets.

If you are not at field you can do trace in M2000 or LMT (Can connect to eNB to trace)
SIB2 is in RRC as T_ADD said, so you have to read the message in SIB2 when idle state.
