Dear Friends,

BR,

For Huawei only can help .
GSM900--> DCS set the inter-layer threshold from let say as example 35 to 25 .
GSM-->3G set the Ec/no for idle mode to -24 .
would shift a good percentage of GSM900 to DCS and 3G.

Thanks RF Enginner, But we are already configured those values...what do you think about 2G to 3G handovers, we are going to enable that.Is it good or bad?

the Handover from 2G to 3G is a bad solution, Drop will increase a lot,

i have the same problem. not mnuch traffic is going off from 900. it seems like coverage is big for 1800...
make a TA time advance plot and compare with some drive test results.. i think 1800 coverage is the problem like in our network.

Frankly in current netwrok have not tried service based HO , but such setting which shared almost 50% of traffic is on 3G and other 50% on GSM network include 900+1800.

based on experience had in refarming with vendors such as E// and Huawei , if your co-located site is few the traffic shift is less. so that what been done in order to launch U900 almost there was network expansion in term of adding GSM1800 and 3G layer so that to shift traffic , regarding E// best practice in network have max traffic shift was almost 15% due to less aggressive parameters settings.

in huawei LOAD handover worked for us.

beside what the guys mentioned above, check these possibilities:
1. if priority based reselection is enabled in 2G , mobiles > R8 will go to 3G based on RSCP not EcNo ,double check the parameters related to priority based reselection to make sure the Ue will try to go to 3G even in bad RSCP conditions .
2. for 2G DCS check the parameters related to C2 parameters reselection, like CRO , make sure the mobile camp on DCS even in weak Rxlev conditions.
3.make sure to resolve all the coverage issues in DCS layer by uptilting , this is the best solution we have tested , yet you have to accept the possibility of little overshooting in some cases in DCS , and also the possibility of some frequency changes because of the changed coverage areas of DCS1800
