Dear LTE experts,

After upgrading our LTE BW from 10M to 15M we noticed a decrease of UE number by 12%. we kept the same RS PWR (15.2dBm)

Any one could explain this behaviour ? is that due to RSRQ degradation ? if yes how to explain it ?

With 10M our setting is (RS, PA, PB) = (15.2, 0, 0)

What will be the ideal setiing of (RS, PA, PB) with 15M bandwidth ?

Thanks

Hi Fahmi,

The setting of RS, Pa and Pb is highly dependent on your network planning and capacity constraints.

In your scenario, by increasing the BW from 10 to 15MHz and leaving the RS, Pa and Pb parameters the same, the overall cell power should have increased (before: 20W per channel, after:30 per channel).

Assuming that you have a 2T2R configuration (two Tx ports), this means that the overall cell power increased from 40W to 60W. You should check that the RRU power capability and the available licenses are enough to handle this scenario. If you wish to keep a 40W scenario with the same RS Power, you can try configuring Pb = 1 and Pa = -1.77. This should give a little boost of your Reference Signals.

Besides the number of UE number, did you see any other change in performance? Did the average throughput increase? Do you have RSRQ distribution counters available?

Dear,

Assuming there is no constraint about available total power. I was wondering if it's a good practice to increase RS if we increase the BW ?

Does the BW upgrade deteriorate the RSRQ with fixed RS PWR ?

BR,
Fahmi

No obvious negatif impact on others KPIs and we had better throughput perforamance up to 40% increase.

Keep the same setting RS 15.2, Pa 0 and Pb 0 then will be fine.

Thanks
