Dear All,

I have a question about the key differences between using 20Watt or 40Watt for LTE (MRFU/RRU)
does it affects only coverage or it impact also Throuhput/MiMo/Capacity Performance

Thanks

Hi,

If you keep the rest of parameters fixed you can achieve 3dB extra in coverage because you are transmitting double power per RE.
Capacity performance will keep the same respet the number of RRC connected
Throughput maybe you have some benefits due double of power

Hope my answer help out you

Thanks for your detailed answer, what are your recommendation go for 20 or 40 . i mean which of them is commonly used worldwide

Based on my experience my recommendation is the following

10MHz --> 20W (considering MIMO 2x2)
15MHz--> 30W (considering MIMO 2x2)
20MHz--> 40W (or 20W if you used MIMO 4 x 4)

Also I would like to recommend to use Power Boosting for RS in order to increase the coverage.

More power means more RRU (cost), depend on your link budged calculation, usually in dense/urban we used 20 watt and rural you can used 40 watt. But actually in rural area with 20 watt (limited RRU) we can boost the RS power by 3dB (power boosting).

Thanks for your detailed answer, what are your recommendation go for 20 or 40 . i mean which of them is commonly used worldwide

Hi,
What the difference between power boost and power increase (from 20W to 40W)

Hi,
What the difference between power boost and power increase (from 20W to 40W)
Power Boost refers to increasing the Reference Signal power by the calculated amount (10 log(1 + Pb)). The total transmit power remains 20 watts but you can achieve greater coverage. However, the different Pb settings have trade offs.
